Coronavirus: Stockpilers hoard supplies, others share.
When we are faced with worldwide or home front crisis, now is not the time to become selfish. I am amazed to see overloaded shopping carts of toilet paper, paper towels, meat, water, cleaning supplies, etc. We all know what we normally go through in a months time, why not shop normally instead of stockpiling for an underground bunker!! In the days gone by “we” certainly lived with less product, technology, and convenience and managed to survive!! Slow down Americans and look how to assist your fellow man instead of building a toilet paper mountain as big as Mt. Fuji. Here are some related acts of kindness:
- A Restaurant in Washougal is ordering meals of soup, bread, fruit and a snack from 11am – 3pm for kids who need lunch when schools are closed. Do you know how many kids are on subsidized lunches in Collier County? Last tally taken was 60% in 2017!! As this bar and grill, they posted “We are all feeling a little powerless right now, but one thing we can do is feed the kids who depend on free or reduced lunches.”
- Are you healthy enough to shop? think about running errands for the elderly; especially those who are in their 80’s (the group most likely to be affected).
- With no NBA games Levy Foods, a Chicago based hospitality company donated 2,800 pounds of food to a Portland based food company to give away, otherwise the food would have been wasted. What do you have that will only go to waste to give?
- A sports bar in Hood River is not only providing free food to kids while schools are closed, they donated a large sum to their local food bank.
- The biggest act of kindness we can all do is share!! Don’t be selfish, be caring. ink of health care facilities that depend on these simple resources before you go out and stockpile unnecessarily.
